A discussion about the war

This is something I've been writing at work, to possibly discuss some aspects of the war, why it started, and what the causes and effects of continued war will be. This isn't a place for flames, so don't put them here.

Alright, I'm posting this so that some Rimsilval/Allies and Durm members can sound off, and maybe talk about this war a little bit..HOPEFULLY without a lot of insult throwing.

I'm sure its possible from our side, right guys? So no insults or you'll hear from me.

For others reading this, the Rimsilval/Durmanhoth war started like this.

Me, Korzan, had a fine, for killing some random fool. I was working on collecting the money due the courts when I ran out of time and went wanted. Within 30 seconds of going wanted, and on my way to the bank to meet someone with cash to pay my fine, I was arrested by Orlando. Rimsilval and Durmanhoth had been on decent terms for a long time. We had not attacked each other in months and occassionally, even gave the other a hand. For the past couple months, or more, Durmanhoth had been on top of the game. We had consistent numbers of members online, and always had a well-packed armoury.

Now, Korzan is an extremely egotistical character. He is a warrior, and a leader. In the only possible thematic way, I demanded compensation, or retribution. Korzan holds himself to be slightly above the petty mortal coil, dealing out life, and death, as he sees fit - and does not deign to hold himself accountable to mortal laws. Its not always possible, with the lawsys being what it is today, but he tries.

Personally, it makes a lot of sense to me, to not pick a fight intentionally with someone a lot bigger and stronger than myself. So here comes this little hobbit, who arrests Korzan, a proud Dunedain warrior..And said hobbit then scurries off to his guild. Korzan wants some payment, and an apology. The Guildmaster of the Rimsilval refuses. Words ensue. Variel says that its perfectly ok for Rimsilval sheriffs to arrest Durmanhoth members.

This is where the crux of the situation lies..

The goal of the Durmanhoth is to teach the Rimsilval, and anyone else, that we are NOT accountable for our actions, that we WILL do whatever we want, whenever we please, and anyone who tries to interfere WILL be eliminated.

Rimsilval got some shots in early in the war, mainly due to Anton becoming active again.

However, as things have progressed, the Durmanhoth has taken a decidedly upper hand in the war, currenlty winning by some 54 kills on Rims and allies to a mere 18 kills on Durmanhoth members. Pretty decisive, in my opinion. Is Rimsilval willing to cooperate now? To apologize for their actions? Of course not. Somehow, they feel as if THEY have been the ones affronted.

Furthermore, reasons as to why they should NOT surrender, is 1) We have more members active than they do, 2) we have more assassins than they do, 3) We have better weapons than they do, 4) We're abusing the Guildwar system.

I find that ironic, as the fact that we have more people, better weaponry, better killers, and more EFFICIENT killers, is EXACTLY the reason why they SHOULD give up!

Why will the Taliban surrender to the US? For those same reasons.

Then, Anton remarks about how he might just go immort again, as well - in what is seemingly becoming a trend among Rimsilval members involved in the war. We've forced the Rimsilval, Beornings, and Valacirca into near inactivity. Every time they leave the guild to do anything, they die.

Why will they not give in? What more must we do?

Anton's solution to his Durmanhoth problem is to wait until the guild_alliance system is recoded so that our fines will go up again. Thats what he wants. I find it pathetic that the only way for HIM to survive is for the AINUR to code it that way.

I guess I'm writing this because I have a hard time understanding Rimsilval logic.

First, Variel claims that his sheriffs will arrest anyone they want to. Well guess what? This isn't real life. The Durmanhoth are the most powerful force right now, and succumbing to our will is the only way your guild will continue to function.

We've already caused one Rimsilval to immort, two Beornings to suicide, at least one Beorning has left the guild, and several members in each guild to remove themselves from the 'who guild' listings, so that we don't see them on.
