He probably realized he wouldn't make it to his GH in time and doesn't know the linhir breaks so he decided he would look like he was idle/lagged :P
Even if you were actually lagged, don't blame it on lag, it's lame.
I had a 3 min lag didnt realize i got attacked until I was dead...
The travelling was longer than the kill.
