I don't use zmud :( So yeah, I had to create my own mapping system if I wanted to have one. I did have it up and running for a while then I got bored of using it. The only reason I would personally use it, is if my hands got tired of typing so much.

ZMUD has a built in T2T mapper???
Yes, ZMud has a mapper built in, but it doesn't follow all exits, and you have to go back and change different exits, set triggers to move you from one room to another should something happen, IE: falling off the moria bridge. All and all, to map the mud would probably take close to 90 hours of work.

I've been on telnet for the last couple of weeks. My client is from 99, and unusable on my computer. I don't pk, and in fact, avoid it if in any way remotely possible. But I can still find my way from fucking North Undeep. It's just not that hard. I'm moving everywhere by hand with a grand total of 80 aliases, in comparison to a previous 500+ aliases. And half of my aliases are shortcuts like draw sword and shit. Any mudder with a wealth of experience here shouldn't get lost at NU.

I agree, Miroth:P Noone is expecting this from you or from the most of the mudders. And noone is expecting me to quest as hard as Shock for example. Different people, different styles. But I have BIG COLORFUL SUBS for each place like NU so it shines in color on my screen and I don't have to think where I am and lose rounds to glance and read. And I'm expecting from myself to find my way perfectly from such places. And I think Quinn should be expecting from himself to do this too. On a side note, haha, it was fun, our gathering point was very often NU:)

Duncan, not everyone is here explicitly for PK. I can find my way around using common sense, but the only crap i know and could do without my aliases are those things i do, or rather used to do, on a regular basis. I have roughly 10-20 aliases going to and from north undeep, and i could find my way back to a town from there, but it'd take a bit. the only reason i created those aliases to begin with is because direkein used to have us meet there when were about to rock the fuck out of someone.
you guys really expect too much. all im saying is that if pk hasn't always been your #1 reason for playing here, travelto's and aliases to and from towns should suffice.
on a side note, give me a fucking pk flag that you set at character creation and can't change and i'll be happy. it'd be nice to be able to play and not be dragged into bullshit. those of you that know me will probably say i drag myself into such bullshit, but whatever :P good luck having the friends that i do and trying to stay out of it. it doesn't happen :P

*agrees with Jerf* Miroth, I for example could travel between the landmarks like NU, DG and Rhosgobel when I was a clueless lvl 10 newb back in 98. Before travelto was introduced NU was almost as important as Rhosgobel and you simply had to alias such places. Example: You do a Lothlorien-Edoras alias and get stabbed - you won't be able to drink any healing and will most surely die even if you have 3 vovs in your bloodstained cloak. So you alias Lothlorien - NU, NU - Entwade and Entwade - Edoras (for example). There were people who used even shorter (and more segmented) sequences. For that matter, people (and especially the ones from stwa) laughed at those who used a single alias from the well to Narchost. A more experienced player is expected to break it at least in two. So really, which PKer won't find themselves from NU?
You are all weak! I use Zmud version 2.6. You think that mapping was even around when this shit was created in 1999 :P
I think your standards are a bit high, expecting everyone to know exactly how to get around by hand from landmarks. From my personal experience, I think it takes a lot more time and patience mapping everything than it does to learn general areas so you know where you are most of the time, which is why I gave up mapping :P

If you don't know how to get around by hand from every major and minor landmark in this game without an alias or your client, you suck in my opinion. The fact you think you need a mapper to get unlost from NU speaks to this. I enjoyed this log because there was some luck involved, namely, 2 completely horrible players surviving Quinn attacking them.

It's very common newbies commit those mistakes and eventually die, but someday he might be confident with the pk aspect of the game and won't panic anymore... It takes a little maturity, so i won't believe it will happen in a near future.

You know, this log would have been far more entertaining if the the title was: Me or Quinn? And then put a vague comment so we live in suspense while we read the log. I unfortunantly lost half of the excitment even when you went down to 2 hp, because the title of the log said quinn would die!

Just one little detail: Quinn didn't break them. He spent all his EP headbutting and then tried to run a break where you need to evade. That's not tough luck. In soft words, it's lack of attention. In harsh words, lack of skill. You pick.
