And for my 3rd comment in a row, I could've funded that guild myself with my level 7 ranger. It just became all too apparent it was a complete waste of gold because we were gone no matter what.
And the reason we were removed was because Aule and his missus had it for us, and kept changing the rules to disavantage us.

You neglect to mention that it was Sotpot that was 'addressed' not the problem. The problems with guild creation remained for a longer while (and was independent of the status of Sotpot considering they'd already been created), the hysteresis caused by that was never addressed. They were just deemed undesirable and dealt with through the guise of issues regarding law with individual members rather than as a guild and through the appropriate syntax. It was taken to be point that it ended up breaking their spirit and wish to continue which ultimately led to the disbandment.
Which is a shame, because it was such a nice example of the fact that RP can be an enjoyable choice rather than being dictated.
The problem was pretty clear-cut. Sotpot was supposedly made to point out the very real flaws in the guild creation system at the time. When people said 'let's address this', Sotpot treated it like a personal attack at them, and got real snippy.
Right... I'm not disagreeing... I'm just saying if you make fun of someone, it doesn't make sense to be surprised when they resent you.
Actually if anything, they did more to promote the concept of getting RP out in public view than most guilds that actually RP. Yes, they made fun of stuff but at the same time, when you make fun of something, you also respect it to some degree.
Even if the reality was that they had better RP than most groups, they were in fact _mocking_ roleplaying groups. I don't think it's really reasonable to complain that people have it out for a group that is spitting in their eye for no reason.
They also had like 4 active when their rent check bounced, so nobody bothered bailing water on a sinking ship (yuk yuk). I just think people had it out for them more than any other guild or group, and that's kind of saying something... all things considered.
Rent was never removed as a requirement, and it was their zero balance that killed them (or so Powers said at the time).
Yeah, kinda. A few people got bullied out of joining or remaining in it because of thinly-veiled hints of repercussions against their typists. That was loosely my experience and that of a few other people I'd talked to. And all those goofy requirements were removed after it went away. Anyway, this shit isn't my battle anymore. :)

They were pretty funny. It's a shame a few people took themselves too seriously and had it out to shut them down.
God I miss that guild. We rped better than 9/10ths of the rping fuckwits on the mud, and it was all a big parody.
