Manni, there was nothing inappropriate about what I said. I repeated the policy as described to me by the PoL to the best of my ability, but cautioned that before taking it as gospel people may want to confirm with the PoL himself. Don't be difficult for the sake of it.

I got a slap on the wrist the other day for giving a guildmate's alt a few jerkies from the guild bar.. I think he actually got a warning for it. *shrug*

Tireless, you're an ainu now... That makes you a semi-authority figure... So don't go spouting off policies without being clear as to what they are.

Or just mping away anyway, because if they don't get caught MPing they cannot prove they broken the pledge, and if they where caught they would be nuked anyways :)

The people who don't MP would just be given a bigger limit while those who do MP would just find a way around the limits. That one character per typist pledge sounds good and all, but you can bet the only people pledging it were the people who wouldn't have MP'd anyway.

There are some muds that have similar rules as us, but only accept one account per typist, but you can create characters under this account, so much easier to track and follow up on what the diffrent char's interact/do. Plus they usely have a restriction for like 30sec/1min logon when switching chars. Only problem then is if 2 typist mud from same IP (router), or how you can check if someone isnt using 2 accounts with proxies. Every solution opens up for new problems.

Which is of course bullshit for anybody who might, oh I dunno, roleplay more than one character. People could always man up and stop using 3 alts for the purposes of one, too.

MP rules have always been a grey area of the mud, no matter how hard they tried to fix it, theres always going to be a way to weasel your way around it and it will really boil down to your personal relationship with the 'current admin'. The only way to really fight it off is to bring back the Megs pledge of 2002 promoting 'One character per typist'...

Example, I can log my wizard and party with Octavian's guildmates, helping them kill a guildenemy and then log to Octavian again.

That's also well over a year old, and an administration change later. If you think the current administration's take on a particular rule needs to be better publicized I suggest asking them to make a new news post.

Note 19 Tulkas (12/04/07 23:26) Guilds Wars and Alts

Rule Reminder: You may not have more than one character in the same

    guild.

Some of you are getting around this rule by having an alt receive all of

the benefits of being a member of your guild without being an 'official'

member. If I deem that your alt is acting like a member of your main

character's guild, you can expect a warning. This is most notable in

cases where an alt has teamed up with 3 or 4 guild members for the

purpose of aiding your guild in the killing of rival guildmembers.

    Thank you,

    Tulkas

    That's no longer valid.

Mathias' reading of the rule is not the same as Tulkas. The eq policy is still the same, but you are allowed to party with your alt's guildmates (As least this was the understanding I gathered from when I talked to him on the topic). If you want to be safe/sure ask him yourself, or ask him to make a news post about it. The thing about PoL is there are a number of subjective decisions they MUST make (How to interpret the rules) and stare decisis et quieta non movere doesn't apply to Valinor as far as I can tell :P

If they're donating or storing with their alt's guild, you should law report it. In my opinion this comes under 'using one character to aid another'. Also, since having multiple characters in a guild is still not allowed, the rule about treating your character as if it was in the guild your alt is (partying with guildmates to kill guild enemies, giving them EQ, maybe even doing repairs) should still be in force.

Actually, it's just not right. A person who has another char in a guild, shouldn't use his alt to fill the armoury of that guild.

Prolly because you are on there radar or an idiot (i have no idea because i don't know who you are). Because what i know that is just fine getting a repair from a warrior, hell it shouldnt be your problem what guild he is in.

Oh I get the new rules just fine. But when I get shit from ainu for getting a repair from my alts guildmate, and this is apparently ok, it really does make me wonder.
