Join in a war on the side that is clearly winning and doesn't need help in order to feel talented, a la Dakir and Maynard.

^ (OOC) Could you please clarify your position on false law reports?

The specific question is whether you are unfriendly towards/will nuke

people for making viable but ultimately false law reports, or if

you'll only go after people who are spamming really sketchy

    rumour-type law reports.

^ (OOC) (The question came up on the logpage.)

^ (OOC) Melkor: i am unfriendly to people who dare waste my time with

intentionally false and sketchy reports in an effort to see their

in-game rivals eliminated by my hand.

^ (OOC) So a law report made in good faith, even if it ultimately

turns up no wrongdoing, won't draw your ire or generate reprisals

    from you.

^ (OOC) Melkor: I encourage people to file reports when they feel

    there is legitimate wrongdoing.

^ (OOC) Melkor: even if it turns up to be a mistake.

    Later --

^ (OOC) Melkor: I'm here, trying to do my best to keep the place

running allright and ensure that the rules are followed. That can

only be done with everyone's cooperation.

^ (OOC) Melkor: and I appreciate all the effort and cooperation that

    people put into that.

^ (OOC) Melkor: but we all know that some people try to manipulate the

system.. and me. And i dont take kindly to that.

I highly doubt that plausible law reports will earn anyone a nuke. Filing 50 law reports which could be best characterized as overstated undersupported rumours might. The latter is what Melkor is opposed to, as I understand it.

I would have thought that 'abuse' constituted filling it with spam, or filing reports which are absurd and obvious piss-fakes. Have a genuine concern, even if it's later proven to be false, shouldn't be a nukeable offense. Making it so will only discourage people from reporting suspected cheaters.

Melkor has said he is disappointed in the playerbase and can't believe the whining about me that occurred in light of my reception since I've been back. He thinks that people who file fake law reports are weak, and he is going to be prone to deleting them, not me. He has approved and commended Hellflame and myself for this war thus far. Don't worry Mirnac, Melkor isn't a pushover.

You told Arthlor: Let me know when you're ready to negotiate

Arthlor told you: Don't worry, war will last until we are winning :)

The funny part is, that this will prolly happen soon. Keep this up and eventualy the admin will think it's a bigger hassel to keep you guys around then just rebann you again. Me personaly think war's are good, loads of logs and shit, but admin's are prolly getting spammed to hell with law reports

Yes, mathematically he's perfectly correct. In the context, his response is absurd. Hence failing the Turing Test.

And yes, I did originally say it was ambiguous, and was wrong.

Tireless' math is correct. There's nothing 'ambiguous' about the equation. It's pretty straight forward.

Order of operations -- in the absence of parentheses or brackets you do exponents first, then multiplication/division, then addition/subtraction last.

  • Author

Actually 1 + 6 / 2 can equal either of those, because it's ambiguous. Though anyone who intended what you quoted would type it as 1 + 6/2 rather than with the spaces. Also in the context it's pretty obvious how the equation should've been read.

    False. (1 + 6) / 2 = 3.5

It's sad that within one rating it becomes a popularity contest because Ural is too much of a fuckwit to rate intelligently from the outset. 1 + 6 / 2 = 3.5
