For example, I have never PKed with max stats. I keep mine around level 17 avg.

I think what his point is, there are no very cool creative ways to make gold usually.
i guess what i mean is that virtually any part of this game can be equally enjoyed whether you have 96 avg stats or 100. you can still gold with your buddy. can still RP. can still quest some gear to amuse yourself. can still pk if that's your thing. just gotta i guess grow up and become confident and ignore the numbers that are there when you type score.
formid brings up good points in the realm of relativity but i think he is forgetting that not everybody in this game is supposed to be a maxed char with gold in the banks. that used to be the exception and not the overwhelming majority. and now of course since it is an overwhelming majority he feels discouraged because he is 'falling behind' in a game which is neither a race nor should revolved around numbers and bank accounts etc.

I just realised why I stopped playing so much. Maybe it'd make the game too easy, but I honestly don't care.
When I just died twice due to stupid things and end up having to spend 5 hours to get back to where I was I literally can't be arsed.
First, I ended up hurricaning myself to death, 8k gold gone instantly.
Then, having just killed the figure in the ranger camp so I could use the healer, I went inside and the figure spawned and backstabbed me to -4hp, apparently I'd JUST hit the tick, another 8k gold.
I really can't be arsed playing for 8 hours just so I can get back to where I was (I'm currently some 10k gold down, I managed to make some back). It's just not interesting or fun having to re-level or do things purely to make gold.
I find myself unwilling to go learn new areas or exlpore new quests in case I end up dying and then having to spend an age relevelling. The game simply isn't 'casual' friendly, it never was, but it's taken me becoming a casual to realise it.
Yes, I made the comment that levelling is easy, it is, it's also intensely boring, likewise with goldmaking in the game, easy, but boring.

God I wish I actually put in the effort to mud in the golden era of free kills and a million professions :(.
I can log in on my other chars,I logged in the other day on my necromancer and I have a couple of other chars still around.
I was never sitebanned or anything like that, but since I work as a programmer (and I actually work in terminal windows most of the time) I can actually log in on the mud most of the time, I just choose not to (I do actually have work to do etc :) )
I just don't want to recreate Formid, first and formost I think that nuke was completely unjustified, given the length of time I'd played the mud (and the numerous second chances a lot of other people get), the sheer number of bug reports I put in and the complete lack of any serious warnings I was more than a little pissed off about being nuked, even if they decided that I had cheated that time a serious warning and a 'caught doing it again and it's a definate nuke for you + alts' should really have been the most I got. Besides that I'm rusty, out of practice, don't know any of the new equipment/quests and the gameplay that I liked about BountyHunters (ambush was great, and they could have easily fixed it so that multiple ambushes wouldn't work) is gone. Actually most of the people I liked are gone along with it, I guess we all grow up sometime :)

most of the text on the mud is black and white, alls you need to colour is weaponemotes, prompt and a few other fruity things. it doesn't take long at all, i've done it with a tonne of my logs.
It'd come down to averages and specific text, in theory no one client type should be able to modify it.
I would probably come down to an almost standard mud colouring (maybe missing a few things)
Please don't base it off one of those fruity clients that has bright pink/yellow/red and shit all over the place
I could probably run something automated up to re-color the logs.
I have enough of the logpage scraped that it should potentially be possible to generate a list of common colours/emotes and therefore how to recolour certain phrases within logs.
It'd be an interesting experiment anyways, maybe I'll do it.
It seems like you'd have to have an ENORMOUS database of emotes to do that, and the only way to do it more efficiently than how I described would be to use a macro... which is a converter program, and not done by hand.

Then you are better at it than me. What would you find/replace? Remember, we're talking about an uncoloured log, not an HTML log. There aren't any tags to replace.
It takes 5 minutes to manually colour a log with wordpad and find/replace.

It's possible to manually colour, as has been said, but it takes a VERY long time. (On the order of ~2 seconds per line, if you're really good at it, so a 500 line log is a little over 15 minutes. If you're not very good at it (like me) it's about 5x that long.)
If you have a great log to post that lacks colour, send it to me and I'll colour it for you. Keep in mind that I have to pick colours arbitrarily, so if you do this your log will look more like it's from my client than yours unless you give me directions.
But, like I say, please... only really good logs which justify the time commitment.

sorry tireless i meant to do that but i forgot to put that in there. also i tried to use the converter but my 'logs' are just copy and pasted into notepad if anybody knows a way to get color into those? i used to know how i think but that was years ago
