I disagree, Tireless. Mathias may be trying to enforce the rules, but his asinine methodology and the arbitrary judgments he makes whilst doing so are wholly undesirable and well worth getting angry about. To use your own metaphor, it's often equivalent to a cop suddenly deciding a none signposted zone is 25 mph and issuing tickets to all the drivers which go past then using armed force to arrest anybody who protests.
I don't want to speak too much ill of Mathias. I've been told by friends within Valinor that if you're an immortal then your attitude toward him will change, and that he does wonders for both the game as a whole and the voluntary staff. Having not spend long as an ainu myself, I can't corroborate these claims. Regardless of how great he is or isn't as a coder, I do genuinely believe that Mathias' attitude toward players, and the comm especially, means he shouldn't be be used in a law enforcement or public relations capacity.

Also Draugluin was post-2004 and Tireless I think lost around 3 characters to unwarranted nukes during that reign of Terror, so if he's happy to say Melkor is less competent it's probably on good grounds.
Draugluin was a consistent asshole though, so at least you knew what to expect. Melkor just found the most troublesome players on the MUD, tended to their every whim and refused to punish them for anything.

I more or less included context of it that law report. If i good recall, Rhakyrh was lawless then, my character was a thief, I was stealing from him as much as i could (since it was free to do), untill he whined to ainu... Ainu told me that repeated stealing from a player is harassment and i was supposed to limit it, so rhakyrh of course tried to get me to steal from him by insulting me. ...I really just cannot get over that. I have made an effort to say as little as I can about people who are banned (since they can't defend themselves and it seems in bad taste to bait people where they can read but not reply - how well my efforts have succeeded is a matter of debate, I know) but... holy shit.
I thought for a while that there were no bad people - just people who were improving themselves more slowly more more quickly. None of us are perfect, and I tried to argue that we all make choices which we believe will make us better people. Aryl has defeated this belief as he has thoroughly demonstrated that there do in fact exist bad people who seek to become worse with the passage of time. He will doubtless be pleased to add anti-Semite to his long list of negative attributes (negative attention is still attention).
I once called Aryl a cancer on the MUD. I see now that I was mistaken. Aryl is more like an infection of necrotizing fasciitis which Osse managed to cut out of the MUD in time to prevent its spread... and was then reintroduced by the star moron of Team Valinor.

Oh shit nevermind, that wasn't Pounder at all!
Can sympathise with Pounder, whilst levelling Brad I had to re-learn a whole hell of a lot of quests I hadn't done in some 5-6 years+. Whist I had a general idea of what to do, I was quite frequently stuck on syntax (and in the case of a couple of quests, still am, such as the vision spell quest in Asturasartes).
If I remember rightly there are 2-4 different cells in thranduils, and depending on the one you get into it's a different method of escape.
That said, I think there is a failsafe on each of the rooms, that if you have been there over a certain amount of time you can 'plead to get out' or something along those lines. I don't think the syntax for that is obvious though, perhaps it should be automatic after 15-30 minutes of aging in those rooms. Being stuck in the same room for 30 minutes plus, and much like dying and not knowing how to come back to life would probably make someone quit if it was a new player (especially in the case of thranduils if all they did was trying to enter an exit they didn't know was for the other sex).
It was funny when he claimed him and Exhalev were the best PKers in Arda though in a goodbye log :))))

Kharaan, you are absolutely right, I should have not quit to be honorable if it was a legit attack. But I didn't/don't still have my entire client up and only went in there manually to help this guy. So I didn't have the info on the area I had gotten hundreds of years ago. There's really only 2 people that really need to be removed IMHO. And cruice isn't one of them TBH. Yeah, he's lulz when he tries to shittalk sometimes, but overall he's not anywhere in the sprectrum close to ravathir and aryl in pure patheticness. What really burns ravathir, is that, even after 2 occasions where he should have had easy kills, he has failed both times to do what he really wants, actually kill me. They can claim, I am this or too scared or whatever, but they cannot claim they have killed me since I have returned. I am too careful + they just suck too bad. So I was in thranduils cavern helping a nice newbie guy try to
get out of the jail cells in thranduils so I got myself stuck
on purpose and we sat there laughed and tried figure it out
(of course there was much screaming and moaning at the quest
lol!) Anyways, I noticed XXXX online and knew he was dexter
and dexter had attacked me earlier. However, I knew also that
XXXX could not enter thranduils so I felt safe to continue
helping the nice guy who was trapped for months in thrands
quest. Well after a bit of time, i got attacked by dexter.
I legended XXXX and it was clear he switched to dexter so
he could try to kill me (because i bad mouth him all the time)
I realize this isn't honorable but I did quit on him but that
doesn't change the fact he MP'ed to attack me. I quit because
I only had a pack and cloak and I went there to help a guy
not because I was golding etc.
