This room is surprisingly large and spacious, given the cramped
quarters of the rest of the building. Perhaps the large windows in the
north and east walls just make it seem bigger. They certainly add to the
light--even the gloom of Mordor is brighter than the level below. You
see a large table in the center of the room. A map lies open on it. A
cot and small chest are shoved against the south wall. Two folding chairs
sit on either side of the table. It seems that this room serves as both
headquarters and sleeping room for the captain of the easterlings.
The only obvious exit is west.

This is a cramped stairwell. The stairs, made of stone just like the
rest of this building, drop steeply to the floor below. Lamps hanging on
the walls provide enough light to navigate the stairs but not much more.
There is no handrail, and the steps are uneven; you find yourself tracing
one hand along the wall for balance as you mount the steps. An opening
in the east wall has been covered with a hanging blanket.
