I was definetly more active before flags than now.
I was definitely idle before flags, but I am strongly against them as well!
Despite being one of the most vociferous opponents of pvp flags, I have to concede the point that it does appear there are more people on at all times than the corresponding time 18 months ago, before flags.
Of course, there are people like Ansgar, Carver, Mornaur, Twofoot and the like who are online a lot, but when I run finds every 5 minutes on these individuals, they are -always- in their hall. At any given time, probably 50% of the mud has been idle for 5+ minutes. I do not remember as large a percentage being idle before flags, but I may be remembering incorrectly.

Just like this log, your comment doesn't really prove anything about activity. We all have our gut feelings, tho. My gut feeling is that whil activity in terms of number of people online might be slightly higher, the actual _activity_ (what people do) has lowered further. For example, at times I think it seems as if people hardly go to Mordor anymore because they are so used to PvP off saving their asses that they don't want to risk it in Mordor. My bet is that more people play semi-active from work.
I don't know though. I have a bad feeling about this whole PvP flag business though :)
I played just before pvp flags, and the activity was way way down. Then a coupel of months into flags i saw first of all players that i hadnt seen for years and years come back, but also during peak hours up to 20 more people online. But no i havnt written down any numbers. But then again if you go back to around 2002 the activity was HUGE compared to now and just before flags.

If you are gonna prove something about activity you really need a log from before and also the time when the log was recorded. But im sure you knew this and just acts stupid to make a point. The sad part is tho, that activity have gone up after pvp flags was implemented. If it's gonna stay that way isnt sure tho.

But i agree that the system sucks though. ;)
