Darkness surrounds you.
    The cliff wall on the north side of the path is broken here 
by the opening of a cave, which winds back into the blackness. 
The ground here is stained by a foul greenish-yellow liquid, 
which reeks with the stench of ancient malice.  The trail of 
liquid leads into the cave and disappears in the darkness, as 
if something were injured here and dragged itself away -- perhaps 
Shelob herself.
The sky is clear yet still dark as night.
    The only obvious exits are hole, southwest and northeast.
