a fairly rustic place, with few things of beauty since the new mill was
established.  A crossroad leads north to Bag End and south to the Great 
East Road, while this road goes west into a cemetery and east, over the
hills, to Bywater.  The smell of the new mill chokes you even from here.

To the south lies the town intersection and the Great East Road. From  
here you can see the smoke billowing out of the new mill. The mill runs  
almost constantly to produce the bricks for the new construction the Boss  
had ordered. The road here is almost black from falling cinders and ash.
There is a narrow pathway angling off the road to the northeast.

the new mill and Bag End. Its wood planks are coated in mud and dirt, 
testament to the labors that are going on here. You can see scores of workers
at various jobs at the Quarry further up the road.

entrance to the new mill, which is the source of much of the destruction you
see all around you. A constant stream of workers goes back and forth from the
mill to the quarry, tirelessly making all the new bricks.

has been widened to allow carts from the nearby quarry
into town.  The lane is muddy, churned up from overuse.

you can see the noble residence of Bag End.  To the south
you see the bridge to Hobbiton.  To the west lies a brick 
building with a chimney, spewing smoke into the sky.

There is a checkpoint here, complete with a mean-looking guard.

are tight on security.
